A Wait and the Heartbreak

Tired and sickening is the wait.

Time flows slowly,

In rhythm of a cart – slow, gasping for breath…

A humdrum so severely painful

A moment so heavily burdened with expectations.

…there is no respite.

A silence so deep and heartbreaking,

That it chokes the desire to exist.

Inching forward stealthily

To end the wait and the heartbreaking silence that surrounds

The shadow of hopes – forever, once for all.

  1. I can relate to the waiting, the expectations– the misery of not knowing what to expect. I loved another with all my being, and in the end I was left alone with only my thoughts to mull over.

But I am in a better place now. I am not expecting him anymore. I found ways to forget– ways to survive without his presence.

    Loved your poem.

    1. Thank you so much. I am so glad that you liked it.

In my case, the wait is for something that I know I can NEVER get. But each day, I hope against all hopes.

That I believe is the human nature. Pathetic indeed.
